Hello Lightning Tamers,

In today’s podcast we have artist Cork Marcheschi, who background is numerous whether it be fine arts, sculpture, music, film, writing, neon, or plasma. His diverse use of materials in his artwork are often accompanied and or influenced by light. During my trip to the Bay area in January, I asked Patrick Collentine, a former student of Cork, and whom was my instructor in plasma, for an introduction. I was invited to meet him at his Studio, And when I arrived I was greeted warmly and we began our conversation.

Show Notes

Thank you for listening to the Taming Lightning Podcast. I’d like to thank Cork Marcheschi for taking the time to record for the podcast, as well Patrick Collentine for the introduction. We touched on a few art themed topics that I would love to explore fully in their own episode. If there’s take away, I would say to make art that your very excited about, because that’s he work you’ll make your best efforts to achieve.

Also, I’d like to thank Pittsburgh Glass Center for supporting me as a place of research and inspiration, as well as encouraging me to pursue this project, and the Plasma Art Alliance where I have access to the well of knowledge and connects me to some amazing people. Last but not least this trip was made possible through the support of the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh Grant provided by The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz endowment.
Feel free to share, comment, and subscribe.

See you next time,

Cork Marcheschi – Official Website

By high school it was clear that little Corky had absolutely no outstanding skills whatsoever. His eight grade teacher, Mr. Middelton, included this note on his report card “At least he’s not a criminal”. The two areas of life that held some fascination for Cork were rhythm and blues music and modern art.
